Hearing Beings Tomasz has struck upon a clever situation in which to record a quite clear and clean and, above all, very tactile recording of the unique sound of bats' wings; in this instance, the wings of microchiropteran bats (with some occasional traces of a faint but evocative and charming background human ambience). This is definitely one of my favourite bat wing recordings.

about

- Recorded the 21 October 2018 in Bytom, Poland.

- Coordinates: 50.4054886,18.8531633

- A recording of bats flying around the microphone at an entrance of an old mine. The mine is no longer in use. The entrance is closed with a gate that allows bats to fly through the bars, however, keeps people outside. The microphone was placed at this gate.
The mine entrance is in an old dolomite mine that is no longer in use and has been reclaimed by the woods around it and is overgrown. Due to the fact that this was a dolomite mine, the place is surrounded by extremely steep, rocky walls with it getting dark earlier than around the place and only one narrow path going through the bottom of the excavation.
All this is located in Segiet, part of which is a nature reserve, near Bytom in Silesia region of Poland.
The recording was made between 17:15 and 18:15 on 21 October 2018 (with sunset at 17:43 on that day). The bats were leaving the cave for a night hunt

- Recorded with: Zoom H5 recorder with Audio-Technica BP4025 X/Y microphone inside a RODE blimp.
